Why should I choose Shooting Pixels for my wedding photography?
Every day I get enquiries from people that are simply looking for the cheapest price possible and while I appreciate you have a budget for your wedding don’t let price be the main factor in choosing a photographer. Choose your photographer because you love their images and style. With that in mind…
My style is largely documentary with a dash of contemporary. Documentary means I record events as they unfold and contemporary is where I will step in and to add some direction or staging of a shot, usually the shots of the couple taken after the group shots, just like the one above.
Your wedding day will be filled with smiles, laughter, tears of joy, pranks, knowing looks, pride and above all love. My goal is to capture those moments and emotions turning them into a cherished story of your love for each other.
To do this I am not just recording a scene, I am sharing with the viewer what I saw in that moment, what moved me to take a shot and that makes it a very personal thing. If you looked at the images on my website and felt a connection with the subjects and the captured moment then, yes, I am the right photographer for you.
What happens on the day and how can I get the best from the photography?
Whilst there’s not much you can do about a rainy day you can prepare for the British summer by choosing a venue that provides suitable interior spaces for photos should they be needed so please keep it mind when looking.
The day will rush by so try to not to cram everything into a few hours, give yourself time to enjoy it all. Some time between the service and sitting down for the wedding breakfast gives an ideal opportunity for photographs and to say to hello to everyone. In the darker months of November to April I would advise having the service in the late morning otherwise you might find it’s already starting to get dark as you leave the church. When planning what group shots spend a bit of time considering which ones you want, keep the list as short as you can, starting with these five:
Bride, Groom and the Bride’s family
Ditto for the Groom’s family
Bride, Groom and their parents
Bride, Groom, Bridesmaids, Bestman & Ushers
After the group shots I’ll take you off for a short while to capture some shots of just the two of you. Don’t worry you won’t be expected to suddenly become a couple of fashion models, it will be relaxed and give you a chance to have a quiet chat with each other.
How many photos will I get?
The number of shots you’ll receive depends on a number of factors – the time of day, the time of year, the number of guests and what happens throughout the day all influence how many shots I take so it’s pretty hard to put a number on it and probably a mistake to do so. If I were to promise you 500 shots but your wedding is at 2pm in December at an intimate venue with 50 guests I would quickly find myself taking shots just to make up the numbers. Instead I simply promise you’ll get every shot I believe adds to richness and detail in telling the story of your day.
Can I have all the unedited photos?
I’m afraid not. Whilst I take more photos than I deliver that doesn’t mean I’m holding something back. I want to provide every good image I can so holding back great images really makes no sense. The images you don’t see are just part of the shooting process, they might be test images to check lighting or a camera setting. The camera might have jumped focus when someone moved. Often it’s because someone’s expression has changed, they suddenly sniffed, or blinked and didn’t look very attractive as a result. When I shooting candid moments I will take far more shots than I need because I don’t know where the moment will go. Someone might be telling a story but I don’t know how big a reaction it will get so I keep shooting waiting for the biggest moment and that’s the one that makes it to your collection. Sometimes I might include one or two others as well if they help to tell a little story of their own.
When you read a book you read the completed story as the author intended but the process of creating the book meant there were many sentences, paragraphs and even entire chapters that were cut or re-written. The book you get is the result they were working towards and you wouldn’t then ask if you could also see the pages they rejected. Those pages were rejected for good reasons and it’s the same with your wedding photos.
Can we see a complete set of wedding photos?
Of course, just get in touch and I’ll be happy to provide you with the links to a couple of my client galleries.
When should I book?
The sooner the better. Typically I book 12-18 months in advance so the sooner you can book the greater the chance that your chosen date will still be available.
What do people say about Shooting Pixels’ wedding photography?
We were so pleased that Andy was the photographer for our wedding at Maunsel House. We were over the moon with our pictures. I even had a tear in my eye when looking at a few of them. He captured every moment just perfectly and told the story of our wedding in such a fantastic and touching way. They are better than we could have ever hoped for. Many thanks Andy, you are awesome!26/09/2017
As a wedding celebrant I get to work with a lot of photographers, and I must say working with Andy was an absolute pleasure, he was able to get guests to relax and stay natural whilst making sure that he wasn't intrusive to the day Your wedding day is all about those memories and Andy captures them beautifully.
Look forward to working with you again.06/09/2017
Andy photographed our wedding on the 19th August this year. From start to finish, Andy was truly amazing! He took the time to get to know us and nothing was too much bother, he really did go the extra mile. :- )
We received our photos this week and we are so so happy with them... Andy captured our day beautifully! He made us all feel completely relaxed throughout the day and mingled so well with our guests, I really can't praise him enough! We are so grateful for all of his efforts and his talent is incredible (even though we both weren't the easiest models... especially when props were involved!!!)
Thank you so much again Andy! We would highly recommend you! Mr and Mrs Sealey x05/09/2017
Andy was our wedding photographer in May 2017 and definitely didn't disappoint. We absolutely adore our wedding and pre shoot photos. He helped put us at ease during our pre shoot which confirmed to us that we picked the right photographer when we saw the result of this session. On our wedding day he went above and beyond to get the perfect shot (including lying down in a field of thistles!) and his cheeky sense of humour kept us and our guests relaxed to get those unposed shots. Our guests have been raving about him as have we. I would 100% recommend Andy to everyone!27/06/2017

Andy captures true expression and emotion in his photos. He get excellent action shots and captures the best moments of being on the stage, from behind stage nerves and friendships to on stage banter and laughs. From this to the amazing zombie shoot at maunsel house and most recently my beautiful magical woodland wedding shots, I can vouch that Andy is a very versatile photographer who truly captures the moment. Keep up the great work 😀11/05/2017

I won a photography package at a wedding fair, and i have to say from the moment i got that letter to after the wedding Andy was fantastic. The service he gave before the day and at the engagement shoot was brilliant. On the day he was brilliant with everyone, he didnt get in the way like some photographers and he stopped to chat to family and guests. I cant recomend him enough, fantastic service and fantastic guy. Thank you.17/10/2016
Andy was our wedding photographer earlier this year and we couldn’t be happier with our wedding pictures. From the very start Andy was very helpful and informative, helping us through the process. We are extremely pleased with the end result. Andy went beyond the call of duty and we couldn’t have asked for more. We would highly recommend Andy and would also highly recommend the Folio albums that Andy offers – they are worth every penny. Thank you again Andy. Michelle and Clive.22/08/2016

Andy was our photographer for our wedding. We could not have been happier with how the day went and the pictures Andy captured throughout. It was a very comfortable process, from our first contact with him to receiving the finished photos. He fitted right in during the day and he was there to capture all the right moments. Thanks Andy 🙂04/09/2014
Andy was the photographer for my friends Sam and Meri's wedding at Polhawn fort. He was fantastic! The perfect balance of unobtrusive and engaging. It felt like he was guest at the wedding just like anyone else and he managed to get the best out of everyone. The shots I have seen so far are warm, spontaneous and beautiful and I genuinely cannot wait to see the rest. It was an utterly wonderful weekend and he captured it perfectly - I would recommend him to anyone.30/06/2014
