Ash & Aaron’s Autumn Wedding at Larmer Tree Gardens
When Ash and Aaron booked a video call to talk through their wedding plans, Ash was very clear about one thing. She hated having her photo taken.
That is far more common than people realise. I reassured her that she would not be left wondering what to do in front of the camera, and that their pre-wedding shoot would give us time to find an approach that felt comfortable.
The pre-shoot became a real turning point. It gave Ash and Aaron the chance to experience being photographed without the pressure of the wedding day. We could talk, walk, make a few photographs and keep the whole thing simple. Once Ash saw how relaxed the images looked, the worry began to disappear.
By the time their wedding arrived, photography was no longer something hanging over the day.
An autumn wedding at Larmer Tree Gardens
Larmer Tree Gardens is one of those venues that never feels predictable.
The Roman Temple, Singing Theatre, mature gardens and winding paths all have their own character. There is faded grandeur, bold architecture, deep woodland and open lawns, often within a few minutes’ walk of each other.
In autumn, it becomes even more striking. The trees bring rich greens, golds and copper tones, while the lower light creates beautiful opportunities throughout the day.
Ash and Aaron held their ceremony outside in front of the Roman Temple. Afterwards, we made use of the gardens and the Singing Theatre, while still leaving them plenty of time to enjoy the day with their guests.
And, thankfully, they also got the warm golden light that had first drawn them to my work.

"We first stumbled across Andy’s work while searching for one very specific thing — that perfect “golden hour” shot.
